Call for Participants: 
Exploring AI Tools for Reading Charts

We are researchers from The University of Tokyo conducting a study on improving the exploration of data charts using AI-assisted tools. If you are interested in participating, please complete this short survey. If you are eligible and spaces are available, we will contact you by email to schedule a session.
 
We are recruiting participants who:
  • Are at least 18 years old.
  • Are able to read and communicate in English.
  • Have low vision and use their residual vision to access visual content on a computer.
  • Have any experience using screen magnification, browser zoom, or another visual enlargement method.

What to expect:
The study will be conducted online via Zoom between August 3 and August 14, 2026, and will take approximately 90 minutes. You will complete a brief tutorial, followed by a series of tasks involving the exploration and interpretation of data charts. You will also answer short questions about your experience and provide demographic and background information.

Your screen and audio will be recorded for research purposes. All collected data will be kept confidential and de-identified in research reports and publications.

Compensation:
You will receive a gift card of your choice, subject to availability, with a value equivalent to $45 USD for your time.

Important notes:
  • You will be required to share your screen during the study.
  • You must participate using a desktop or laptop computer.
  • The chart tasks are designed to be completed visually using residual vision and screen magnification. A screen reader cannot be used as the primary method for completing the chart tasks.

Completing this form indicates your interest in the study but does not enroll you as a participant. After you submit the form, we will contact you to schedule a session if you are eligible and spaces are still available.

This study has received ethical approval from The University of Tokyo (approval no. UT-IST-RE-251120_6).
